Australian woman gives birth to 6KG baby
jamuna news desk: An Australian woman in Victoria has given birth to a baby weighing the equivalent of a house cat or even two house bricks.
Little Jake McGuire weighed in at 6.04 kilograms after being born via Caesarian at Ipswich Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
He’s the biggest baby on the hospital’s records and well above the national average.
At birth, the average weight of a baby is about 3.4 kg (7.5 pounds), but baby Brian is almost double this and stretches 57cm long.
“It was very exhausting, so glad to have him out,” mother Nicole told the Nine Network.
“I had a feeling he was going to be a big boy didn’t realise that big.” She said Jake was a “gorgeous big boy”, if not a little heavy to carry around.
Both mum and bub are reported by the hospital to be fit and healthy, but will stay in hospital for observation for the next couple of days.
Giving birth naturally was a new experience for Ms Corrigan whose three other children were induced.
Just last week, a US woman gave birth to a whopping 6.5kg (14.44 pounds) baby boy.
